How Many Children Must Die?
Chimpanzees take better care of their young than the State of Indiana, and they use only their natural instincts. How much training does it take to figure out that a two-year-old who tested positive for methamphetamine is not safe in his home? DCS supposedly needed more caseworkers. They got 800. They needed Millions to pay them. Taxpayers provided that.
Caseworkers were supposed to be well-trained.
Two-year-old Jalen Blake was returned to the home of his drug addicted mother in Washington Co. where he was beaten to death. This child was but one of many that should have been saved.
We, the taxpayers, demand that DCS perform the duties they have been hired to perform. Susan Tielking is a waste of office space. Her job is to recite the same old, “state confidentiality rules prohibit her from revealing specifics about the case.” Our legislators MUST remove “confidentiality” from any and all juvenile cases. Then we can kick Susan to the curb.
James Payne has received everything he has asked for to correct the lackluster performance of DCS yet he continues to parrot the same phrases: DCS followed all procedures, DCS needs more caseworkers, DCS is investigating etc., etc., etc.
We know that James Payne and Mitch Daniels really don’t care about protecting children. They only care about protecting their jobs. How many more must die?
Payne and Daniels refuse to hear what Hoosier families need and are demanding:
1. An Ombudsman to oversee DCS
2. Open records and open courts to protect families and children from DCS
3. Accountability of DCS and their caseworkers
4. The removal of James Payne
5. Governor Daniels’ defeat in November
